Oliver Twist or The Parish Boy's Journey is the second novel by Charles Dickens,

and was first published as an illustrated series from 1837 to 1839.[1] The story centers on an orphan boy,

Oliver Twist, who was born in a reformatory, then sold to work as a boy to a undertaker. After escaping,

Oliver travels to London, where he meets the "Cunning Dodger",

a member of a gang of young pickpockets led by the elderly criminal Fagin.
